Verifying the addresses

Anyone can publish a page that looks like this one, including a page with a different set of addresses. The address block is the part you actually check, and it takes under a minute.

The checks

  • Count the characters. A v3 address is 56 characters long before the .onion. If what you have is a different length, it is not one of these three.
  • Compare the full string. Copy an address from the block above and put it next to the one you are checking. Read them left to right. A single difference is a different site.
  • Check the ending. If you are working from a screenshot or memory, compare the last six characters against the address bar after the page loads.
  • Note the prefix. All three start with nexus. That is a vanity prefix the operator chose. It is a reasonable sign, not proof. The full string is what counts.

What this site does not do

  • It does not check whether the addresses are up. It runs no pings and shows no status.
