Other markets

There are other marketplaces on the Tor network, and people move between them for different reasons: a product is not listed, a vendor closed, or an address keeps failing. This page is about how to evaluate any of them, because the rules are the same everywhere.

The same checklist applies

• Verify the address. Every market has lookalikes. The method is identical: compare the full string, and use a PGP signature if the market publishes one.
• Check the escrow. If the market does not hold your coins until you confirm, that changes the risk a lot.
• Read the vendor history. A long record with few disputes is the signal, on any market.
• Look at how long it has run. A market that has been up for years with a stable address is different from one that is months old.

Why people switch

Usually it is practical: a vendor they use closed, a product is cheaper elsewhere, or an address is blocked on their network. Switching is normal. What is not normal is switching in a hurry to an address you found in a comment, without verifying it. That is when people lose funds.
